Multiple Tax Rates

FireSale has supported multiple tax rates for a while but never separated them on the receipt, until now. If you have products that use more than one tax rate now the receipt will show individual tax rates and the amounts due. Hopefully this helps out our Canadian users and anyone else needing to show the tax amounts separately, enjoy.

Tip: Check Different Sale Reports Using the Same Dates

We have made it easier to view different sale reports with the same custom date range. Before, you would lose the custom date range if you clicked to view a different type of report, but not anymore. To try it out go to “Sales” and choose a different date range by clicking on “Change Report”. When you are done viewing the report simply click on any of the other reports on the right and the custom date range will be saved. Cool, huh?

The Smart Alternative to POS Barcoding

FireSale POS is all about doing more with less.  That’s why our web based Point-of-Sale system doesn’t use barcode scanners, barcode printers, or any other expensive barcode equipment.  We know what you’re thinking, how can that be efficient? How can it be fast?  FireSale POS eliminates the need for barcode equipment by using a very sophisticated “type-ahead” technology.  Type-Ahead rapidly matches the product you’re entering at the register to a product in your inventory simply by typing the first few letters of the product name.  As soon as match if found the product is instantly added to your transaction. No need for extra clicks or button pushing, just type-and-go!

Here’s how it works:

  1. A customer arrives at the check-out counter with several products.
  2. You identify the first product and begin typing the product name into the register. Before you know it, FireSale POS has found and added the product to the transaction.  FireSale usually FINDS and ADDS the product within the first 2-5 letters you enter!
  3. Move onto the next product, it’s that easy!

Seeing is Believing
To appreciate FireSale’s type-ahead technology you have to try it for yourself.  Sign-up for a FREE 30 day trial and see how you can eliminate the need for barcoding equipment.  Now you have a system that is nearly as fast as barcoding but requires no expensive equipment!

Software as a Service

Software as a service, or SaaS, is slowly taking over traditional software. Software as a service simply means using a software application over the internet using a web browser. Instead of paying expensive licensing fees for software users pay per month. This is how FireSale works and most companies are moving in this direction for many reasons.

1. Software Updates. One major advantage to using software as a service is the fact that you will always be running the latest version. There are no software updates you must worry about and there is never any version upgrades. All updates happen in the background without the users' involvement. Users of SaaS applications rarely notice changes or upgrades, which is a good thing.

2. Cost. Using software as a service costs a lot less than using traditional software. You never have to purchase expensive software licenses or upgrades. For example, there is very little risk using FireSale because you could signup for a month and if you are not satisfied you can close your account, no questions asked. You will never be stuck in a contract or stuck with an expensive software license.

3. Centralization. This might sound complicated but it is really simple. Software being used over the internet as a service is available to any user at any time. There is never an issue with users not being able to connect because they aren't on the local network. You can be on vacation and use the same application someone in the office is using.

4. Setup. There is very limited setup for most SaaS applications. With FireSale our signup take under five minutes. You could literally signup, add products, and be making sales in under ten minutes. It is really that simple.

Updating Multiple Products

After you have you initially setup your products you might need to update quantities, prices, and other properties in bulk. It would take you a long time to update each product individually so we made it easier than that. All you have to do is use our product import to update multiple products at once. The product import will actually update product information if the product already exists in your system.

The first thing you need to do is download the products you want to update. Simply search your products and download the results by clicking the "Export these products to CSV" link. The next step is to open the export file you downloaded and update the values as you see fit. You can either update your products using a text editor or spreadsheet editor like Excel.

When you are done with your changes go to "Products" and choose "Import" in FireSale. On the "Import" page browse for your updated file then click "Import". When the import is done the number of products that were updated with show in green, that's it.

Less is More

At FireSale we take a different approach to building software. We don't obsess over the number of features in our application. More features, or options, in our mind does not translate to better software.

Most other Point of Sale applications have way too many features, options, and configuration choices. All of this bloat gets in the way and slows you down. In addition to slowing the user down it creates an unsustainable product. All those extra features make the application buggy and slow to change.

Our goal with FireSale is to focus on the most useful features and make them work really well. We think this focus will keep FireSale extremely user friendly and allow us to make changes quickly when features are added.
